MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL! Among other things...

Just a few things for a wonderful Wednesday...

1. Have I told you how much I love football, mainly Pittsburgh Steelers football? Well, I absolutely adore them. Monday night, my hubby and I were fortunate enough to be able to go to Monday Night Football in Cincinnati to watch the Bengals play the Steelers. Well, he was watching the Bengals. I was watching the Steelers. We were 10 rows from the field! It was absolutely amazing. My husband keeps chanting, "Who dey! Who dey! Who dey think gonna beat them Bengals?" And I keep chanting back, "Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh! Pittsburgh done went and beat them Bengals!" GO STEELERS! It was a close call, but Pittsburgh won 27-21. And it literally was a nail biter right down to the end. For this thought, I leave you with a picture of the hair of my fave, Troy Polamalu. This is how close we were!

2. I ran four miles with Bobbie and Katrina tonight. I haven't had much time for anything lately it seems, and it felt so good to get out there and run. I ran six on Saturday and hadn't run since due to a very hectic schedule. Hopefully after this week, that will wind down quite a bit. I miss my running tremendously when I don't have time to do it on a regular basis. I try to get in some bike rides when I can't run, but sometimes that gets put on the back burner also. I am a much easier person to deal with when I don't have to go without my runs, so let's pray that my schedule kinks go away soon!
3. How do you really know when you are ready to train for a full? It's been on my mind a lot lately and I just don't know. Bobbie and I were talking about it tonight on our run and she said, "I would like to one day, but I'm not ready right now." So, the question is, how do you know when you're ready? Because...are you ever really ready until you do the training? Who can honestly just go out and tackle 26.2 on any given day? Any thoughts?
Thanks for listening to my ramblings! We're on the down slope to Friday! ENJOY!

  1. I don't know if you are ever 'ready.' I just started training for my full about 7 weeks ago. It's in 3 weeks and I know if I actually followed a real 12-18 week plan it would have been better. BUt it's my first marathon so I'm just using it as a starting off point to see what 26.2 miles really feels like and then train better for another one in the spring.

  2. You just have to find a race that you'd be excited to run - make sure you have free Saturday's for a few months for long runs and go for it! You're ready!

  3. You are a runner, you are ready :) as long as you have the time to train you can do it. I was terrified of 26.2 and was convinced by my team in training friends to switch from a half to a full and it was the best decision. I have another full in May and several 1/2s in between. I don't think you are ready unless you train properly-but the good news is a half seems like a piece of cake and you can maintain that type of training after running a full.

  4. For me, personally, it wasn't about the final 26.2, in terms of whether or not I was ready. It is a totally different level of time commitment and for me, it was whether or not I was ready to commit that amount of time to training. I decided that I was... but I am admittedly drained and can't wait to be past this marathon and back to focusing on halves for awhile.

  5. I love me some Steelers too! So jealous that you were that close! I didn't end up getting tickets this year..so looks like I will look forward to some games next year at Heinz Field. :) And really who doesn't like some Polamalu?
