WOW! What a week it's been! Not only have we gotten in over 20 miles on our feet this week, but most of it was done cross country, in the grass! Not to mention, the grass was wet and very slick! We ran the course on Tuesday night and Thursday night to prepare ourselves for the race on Saturday. Well, when we woke up Saturday morning, not only was it thundering, but pouring buckets of rain. GREAT! Now, I don't mind the rain when I run. I won't say I like it, but I'd rather have rain than run in the beating sun!
The rain cleared before the start of the race and while the grass was still wet, the rain lowered the temperature and the humidity enough so that it was a very nice run!
I finished in 28:47...almost two minutes faster than we'd run it all week! Woo hoo! Second place in my age group! And...my running buddy, Bobbie, took third place in her age group! And Twila got first place in our age group! What a day for running!
And...get a load of this picture of me as I cross the start line! HILARIOUS! What on Earth am I doing?
On top of that, today was the first long run in a string of many for me and my partner to get ready for the Louisville Half Marathon on October 17, 2010! I was a little weary at first because it's been awhile since I've done anything longer than 5 miles, and we had planned on doing 7 miles. We ran that 7 miles like we owned it! It felt like we'd been doing long runs all summer! It felt great! Thanks Bobbie for a great run! (View Bobbie's blog by clicking HERE! ) And on top of 7 miles on foot, I then rode my bike 3 miles so that I was sure to make my goal of 30 miles for the week! And what a week it was!
Thanks for this mornings 7, I needed it! Again Great Job yesterday, you did AWESOME!!
