Rest Day...MONDAY!

I must say, when Monday was chosen as a rest day, I was a little skeptical. If you start out the week sitting on your tush...isn't that how you will finish? Well, I've been sorely mistaken. Monday is a hard day to get up and get going, especially when Monday is the only day off from work that my husband gets. So, Monday is my rest day and the day that I get to spend with my wonderful and loving husband, Jeremiah.

I have a long week of training planned and hopefully all will go according to schedule, except that there is already a kink in the schedule. I just bought a bike, which you can read about below, and planned on doing quite a bit of riding this week. But, all bikes need to be looked at after they've been purchased, just to make sure there are no issues. So, I took my bike to my wonderful cousin, Scott. He used to work at Danville Bike and Footwear and has always been an avid rider. He has my bike until Thursday, just to look it over and fix anything that he comes across that may need to be fixed. Nothing major, just a safety check! So, no bike riding until Thursday night.
So, to make up for not having my bike, I'm either going to have to log in some more miles on my feet or suck it up and go to a spin class at the gym! We'll see!
Well, I'm off to spend more time with my hubby...
Next run...3.1 miles tomorrow night, CROSS COUNTRY! All in the grass! Here we go!

Run for Independence - Stanford, Kentucky - UGH!

Let's just say this: my running buddy must be my sanity! This race was miserable...and I'm pretty sure it was because I had her in my sights the entire time and was in pain because we weren't running together! My time was 30:46. It isn't really that bad, but I've done this course in a lot less before. But then I have to look at the bright side: at least I can get out and do it! God gives me the strength everyday to be able to keep myself healthy! For that I am grateful!

Not only was it VERY, VERY humid during the race, but the hills were excruciating. I've run this course several times, and I honestly can say that I don't remember the hills being as long and grueling as they were this past Saturday. What a task!!!

At the end of the day, several of us won medals in our age groups. I got 3rd in my age group, Renita got 2nd, and Twila got 1st. We dominated our age group! Katrina also got 3rd in her age group! Way to go girls! All in all, a very productive day! (Not to mention, when I got home, I rode six miles on the bike!)

Keep an eye out this week...several product reviews coming and a Ryders Eyewear giveaway!

Thorlo Experia Multi-Sport Sock Review

These are my new Thorlo Experia Multi-Sport Socks that were sent over by Susan Graham and Jeff Lawson at Thorlo Customer Relations. As you can tell by the picture above, the tops of the socks are made of a thin, breathable material that is great for any sport. In the picture below, you see that on the bottom of the sock, there is a thicker pad at the toe and at the heel of the sock, with the breathable material in the arch.

Now, for my opinion/review. I am one of those runners who has looked and looked for the perfect sock. Is it too thick? Is it too thin? Well, this sock is the perfect blend between a supporting sock and a sock that breathes. My feet feel 'golden' after a five mile run when wearing these socks! I absolutely love them! After discovering the love I have for these socks, I went out and bought another pair, GREEN! They come in a plethora of colors for every personality! Way to go Thorlo! I'm very impressed! Thank you for letting me try your product!

Great Run Tonight Guys!

Short post...but I have to say, I LOVE MY RUNNING CREW! We ran 4 miles tonight and it was absolutely a GREAT RUN! I have discovered that sometimes, running without music is OKAY! I used to go for a run and flip out if I didn't have my music. But, this past Sunday and tonight, I went without my music...and it was a blessing! You are able to talk to your buddies and take in everything around you. This past weekend, I was honestly having some bad feelings towards running, but tonight and Sunday put me back on track! I'm so thankful for all of my running buddies...thank you for being a great support!!! You know who you are! :)

"There's a bike in the kitchen!" - Jeremiah Satterly

Well, it's been a few days, so let's start with Saturday. We ran a 5K in Lancaster on Saturday. Katrina, Bobbie, and Twila all placed first in their age groups! YAY! My time was 29:12 which was to be expected due to the extreme number of hills along the course. We have another race this coming Saturday in Stanford. I love the course for this race, so hoping for a better time! :) Sunday began with a five mile run with Bobbie. It was hard to get up and do it after those hills on Saturday, but we were strong and made it through. I also was able to try out my new Running Chics tank and my new Thorlo Experia Multi-Sport socks (sock review coming soon)!
One thing I've been really wanting to do lately is to start cycling on my days off from running just to have some variety to my workout, so I've been looking at bikes. While at the mall on Sunday with my friend Jessica, I found one I liked at Dicks, so I put it on hold until I could call my very knowledgeable cousin, Scott. I called him on the way home and he gave me the 'thumbs up' seal of approval, so Jeremiah and I went back and picked it up that night. I'm so excited, but a little scared. I seriously don't think I've been on a bike since the age of 13, but I'm going to try my best! I guess I just have to get used to it. One of Jeremiah's questions on the way home was, "Where are you going to keep it?". Hmmm...."In the building" was my response. Well, the building is the man cave, so it can't go there. So now Jeremiah's favorite thing to say is, "There's a bike in the kitchen!" And I guess that's where it will stay! :) I love my husband! Enjoy the pics!

Running Chics Review

Just this week, I received an Alo tank in the mail from Running Chics (visit website here). The tank is white and has their logo centered on the front of the tank and on the back at the very bottom of the shirt. It is absolutely adorable!

I wore the shirt on Sunday, for a five mile run with my running buddy, Bobbie (visit her blog here). Bobbie was the one who gave me the inspiration to try products and review them on my blog. I'm loving every minute of it! Anyhoo...wore the tank on a five mile run in 85 degree heat with sun beating down on us almost the entire time. We were grateful for any tree that directed it's shade onto the road! It was warm. As for the tank, WOW! Compared to all of my current running shirts, (no need to disclose the brand), there is no comparison! I've never worn a shirt so comfortable and so cool! Of course we were hot...we were running! But, I was nowhere near as hot as I've been on cooler days,
wearing a different shirt. It is honestly above and beyond any of the other big name brand shirts that I own. If it's clean, I'll be wearing it! Bobbie will probably get tired of looking at it! A big thank you to Andrea over at Running Chics! Once again, click here to visit their site!

Andrea also sent me one of their logo t-shirts and a bag with their logo. Thanks Andrea!

Bondi Band Review!

I was recently sent three Bondi Bands from the Bondi Band company to try and review on my blog. My favorite thing about them: they are so cute! The designs are adorable! I usually don't wear anything like what I have on in the picture, but I thought I would try this one instead of the plain purple one they sent, and I love it now! I never thought I'd feel comfortable wearing something that flashy, but I really do like it! Not only are they cute, but they are comfortable also. They are very lightweight and don't feel heavy on your head, which is exactly what you need when running. I had a little trouble keeping it on my head today, but when I wore it two nights ago, I didn't have that problem. My guess: I stretched it out a little bit. It was a very hot run with lots of hills, so sweat was definitely present. Not to mention, it was running down my face as you can tell. I don't think the Bondi Band could have kept the sweat from running down my face today. I also think they would be good for running in cold weather due to the fact that you can pull it down over your ears. I know it's not very thick, but I don't like running with something thick on my ears anyway, so this would be perfect!

Overall, VERY PLEASED with my new Bondi Bands! Thank you Bondi Band!
